Depending on which valve is malfunctioning, signs and symptoms of valve disease generally include:

• Fatty plaque buildup in your arteries, or atherosclerosis (ath-ur-o-skluh-ROE-sis), can damage your blood vessels and heart. Plaque build-up causes blood vessels to narrow or become blocked, which can lead to heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke.
• Symptoms of coronary artery disease can be different for men and women. For example, men are more likely to suffer from chest pain. Women are more likely to have other signs and symptoms, such as shortness of breath, nausea, and extreme fatigue, along with chest discomfort.

Signs and symptoms may include:

• Chest pain, chest pressure, chest pressure and chest discomfort (angina).
